Dyson DC04 Wont Stand Upright
“My Dyson DC04 wont stand up” is the thing many people ask about on Dyson support forums. If your Dyson DC04 has this symptom, it likely isn’t picking up too well either. It may well be dropping some of the debris on the floor as well.
It was OK yesterday wasn’t it? What happened? You were using it, then it wouldn’t stand up.
Its actually quite a simple thing to fix that anyone can do at home. You don’t need any tools, you don’t need any expertise.
Our friends at Nelson Vacuums in Australia have made a short video on the subject that tells you everything you need to know. You will laugh at how much of a simple fix this is. Click the triangle “play” emblem on the video below (Note the video below is of a DC07, but this aspect of these machines is the same as your DC04 and the fix is identical).
Great tip, re: DC04 won’t stand up, thanks, I have impressed my father, who couldn’t fathom it out!!
Great tip thank you! Such a simple solution to a problem that I just couldn’t work out myself. Cheers.
I hope some one out there can help me.
I received a used Dyson DC04. It is in good shape and the motor functions fine. I have reviewed the owner manual which is very straight forward. However, I have to be doing something incorrectly. When the vacuum is upright it turns on correctly and there is plenty of airflow. However, when I start vacuuming and move the handle to a reclined position the airflow stops. There seems to be an extra hole behind pivoting elbow (actually called the carriage mechanism) and I am not sure if the model is put together correct or if it is user error. There is no hose leading to or from this carriage mechanism. When the handle is reclined and in use is when you notice this second hole plus the cyclone dosent seem to move or suck in dirt. Actually it seems to leave behind dirt. Also the top part of the wand that indicates airflow strength is strong in the upright position but there is no suction when handle is reclined.
I am almost sportive it is something very simple that I am doing wrong. I hope you can help I wanted to see if Dyson products were as good as claimed before I invested into a new model.
Thanks in advance for your help. Vacuuming should not be this difficult.
You say there is no hose. Is there a small hose between the carriage mechanism and the cleaner head when you look at the machine from below?
