How to replace the clutch on a Dyson DC04.
For the lady who left a comment here today requesting how to access the clutch on her DC04, I was going to put up a tutorial.
However, I found a video that showed how to do it very well indeed. So I didn’t need to make one.
The video was produced by Alec Nelson over at Vacuum Spot in Australia.
To do this job, you will need a belt removal tool and a T15 Torx screwdriver which you can get from here: Dyson Spare Parts.
Congratulations to Alec for making such an excellent and informative video.
Thanks Alec that’s just what I needed to know as I have to “refurbish” an old DC04.
PS The bloopers were good too.

Thank you for the info, I watched the video, but it isn’t for the Dyson DC04 Zorbster, which has a spindle on the clutch at the wider end. I’ve bought the right replacement, with an identical spindle, but can’t get the old one out, as that spindle is hampering the operation!
Excellent demo Alec. Replaced my DC04 clutch and saved having to buy a new machine! Much appreciated

Very useful video. Warning – the drive belts on a new clutch unit are really tight, and I think you would struggle if you didn’t have a belt stretcher.
The dust cylinder of my DC04 is being impinged from reinsertion by a grey wire which is longer now than the slot into which it should fit. How can this be corrected?
